I paint joie de vivre. My paintings, represented mostly in oil on canvas, explore the essence that lives in everyday life and pure happiness. I search for the harmonies in natural landscapes in my paintings, which parallel the landscapes of the heart. I highlight the singular moments of joy that I experience in my own life, the very moments that define the “song” of an image, when I am drawn to a very specific vantage point in time and space. I try to bring into my work the music that can be heard and felt in a loving heart, the magical force that gives meaning to our lives, and my hope is that the viewer can “hear” it too.
My preferred style is figurative painting, which allows me to engage the viewer and share an experience I have had upon living a certain magical moment of beauty. The subject matter is always positive and it reflects the happiness I see in my everyday life. I pay great attention to details, working very systematically to preserve accuracy. I focus my attention and painting skills primarily on the subject matter and less on the background, guiding the viewer to examine the painting from a particular perspective that I regard as crucial to the message that I attempt to convey through my work.
I have been influenced by the work of Franceso Alberti, an Italian artist whose creative virtuosity has become the goal to which I aspire. As I seek my place among recognized artists in Canada, I remain committed to a never ending struggle for self improvement and personal growth, as well as for the ability to paint the music that I hear and dance to in my life.
